TALOS delivers immersive, scenario-based training for signals intelligence personnel, enabling realistic signal search, spectrum monitoring, and direction finding exercises without requiring live RF emissions or specialized receiver equipment.

Training Objective

Develop and maintain operator proficiency in radio detection, direction finding, and signal geolocation through realistic simulated environments. Enable linguists and DF operators to coordinate on shared transmissions — collecting, translating, analyzing, and applying intercepts to active mission scenarios.

Technical Approach

Physics-based RF propagation modeling provides realistic bearing accuracy degradation based on terrain, weather, antenna configuration, and signal-to-noise ratio for authentic direction finding performance.

Web-based architecture enables rapid deployment with minimal SWaP requirements. Accessible from standard mobile devices and workstations without specialized hardware, supporting both garrison and field training environments.

System Capabilities

Detection & Direction Finding

Simulates signal search, radio monitoring, and direction finding functions with realistic bearing calculations. Supports handheld, vehicle-mounted, and fixed-site antenna configurations with appropriate performance characteristics.

Multi-Sensor Coordination

Support for multiple simultaneous operators with independent mission assignments and wideband scan simulation. Real-time position tracking and line-of-bearing visualization enables realistic triangulation exercises.

Foreign Communication Monitoring

Dedicated linguist workstation for monitoring AI-generated foreign language intercepts. Supports all DOD critical languages with configurable scenario contexts and text-to-speech audio output synchronized to tactical DF operations.

Exercise Control Interface

Comprehensive command interface for exercise controllers. Configure target SOI positions, terrain zones, weather conditions, and transmitter parameters. Monitor all operator activities and assess performance in real-time.

GPS & Navigation Integration

Native mobile device GPS support with MGRS coordinate display for tactical operations. Compass mode provides real-time heading information for dismounted direction finding targeting.

Environmental Effects Modeling

Configurable terrain zones (urban, suburban, rural, forest, mountain) affect signal propagation and multipath characteristics. Weather effects including rain and fog provide realistic signal attenuation.
